I've also been doing other random layouts lately too so I'm just going to post them all here :) I'm trying to slow down and get ready for December Daily to start again... I can't wait, and actually finished my cover page last night... so right now I'm working on my next photography tutorial for Traci Reed's blog and gathering supplies for December Daily. I can't wait to do this again this year! I'm going to do a template set again... because it was just easy for me... and I think I'm going to go super simple with it too... I have my hands on an awesome kit coming this weekend that is so perfect and can't wait to use that one for the majority of my pages and then I'll use a few other kits here and there for the rest. Weee... I can't wait for December to get here!!!

I actually bought a kit this week! I'd been seeing layouts with this kit prior to it's release and LOVING every single one of them. I got my newsletter from one of the designers on this collaboration and she had a 30% coupon, plus a FWP offer on it. I just couldn't resist. I mean, it was just so perfect for the fall pictures I had just taken of the kids. I seriously LOVE how this turned out! I think I used practically everything in this MEGA kit including all the FWP overlays LOL. I get my money's worth out of kits, LOL. Anyways, here's the layout I did with it, using a fab template by Darcy that's inspired by one of my fave scrappers. To say that I love me some Laura would be an understatement.

Just a couple layouts today with some new releases... I did however work through some of my unused folder this week and did a few layouts that I can't show you until the first of the month... but those will be another post. I have a little secret and I'm super excited about it and I can't wait to share it... but I'm playing with it this afternoon.... WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

OK, here are my two layouts this week. Traci did a monster truck kit this week that totally RAWKS and I had so much fun playing with it, since Isaac likes to call pickup trucks, "monster trucks". I also had a really awesome picture from or trip to TN that I wanted to scrap and totally love how it turned out... I will say that I've become addicted to plaid papers and I LOVE this one! I've used plaid background over half of the layouts I did this week, LOL!

First up is a page I've been meaning to do for awhile and yesterday was the 5 year anniversary of our first angel and today is International Infant And Pregnancy Loss Remembrance Day and just needed to do it. I LOVED Fee's new kit and thought it was perfect and I also LOVE Shawna's new alpha... add in a great font by Darcy and an awesome photoless template from Cindy and it was just perfect! I even left the paint black instead of coloring it because I wanted to show some darkness to the beautiful kit.

Last night I got together with some friends who we usually get together 2-3 times a year to scrap and gab. I finally finished Isaac's 1st year baby album, YAY!!! I'm hoping we get together again soon because I'd really like to work on making Christmas cards and start Asher's 1st year baby album. Both Moriah and Isaac's books got done when they were almost 3 years old... I'm hoping I don't put Asher's off that long because I'm kinda sad that their albums don't have much journaling in them because I don't remember what happened. :( Anyways, here are the pages I completed last night...

I wasn't planning on doing any layouts this week with the new releases since I'll be spending the evening at Archivers with some friends and hopefully doing tons of scrapping and catching up with them. Well... the designers blew me away again and I just couldn't resist playing!!! Of course, Darcy Baldwin has a new font pack this week, and I loved it so much I used it on all of the layouts.

The first one I grabbed were some awesome large photo templates from Cindy Schneider and Jenn Barrette's awesome peacock kit. I have a huge LOVE of peacocks so I was too excited to play with this one.

My wall of art...

I'm so excited as I've been building my wall of art in the dining room. We've been here for 2 years now and I kept saying that I would wait until the walls were painted before decorating... but the wall painting just hasn't happened yet and I needed to add my own personality to the house even with the garish wall colors. This project was seriously the easiest hybrid and anyone can do it. I fell in love with this paper by Krystal Hartley, the moment I saw it and knew I wanted to frame it... so I have this box of old frames and I found one with a mat that matched perfectly. I printed up the paper and put it in the frame and hung it. I seriously LOVE it!!!

While I love my old menu board, it was time for an update. I decided that since we only really plan our dinners that I would make it a bit more simplistic this time and have more room for my sloppy handwriting lol. I have some fabric that I'm going to use for the curtains so I needed something with a little bit different colors too. I also spray painted the frame from white to "aqua" to match our bar stools. I'm loving how this turned out... though I couldn't get the best picture thanks to window reflections but here ya go.

I've been playing along with the portfolio at Sweet Shoppe Designs and decided to do #26 – Take a photo of someone making a heart with their hands or holding a heart shape in their hands. Scrap that photo! I remembered that I had a photo from last year when I was pregnant and thought it would be fun to scrap that one. It's a little bit simpler than I usually do though I still loaded it up with a bunch of papers... just used less elements than usual, but I'm loving it with less... I also had fun with using the picture as part of the title.

YAY!!!! Cindy Schneider came out with a new set of 2-pager templates last week and I finally sat down to scrap our vacation in St. Germain, Wisconsin. I used a kit that Kristin Cronin-Barrow had created for lakeside beaches. I noticed that these types of kits are lacking compared to the tropical beach type kits and this kit is just so perfect for our Wisconsin trips. I usually end up using "camping" kits, but we don't camp, LOL.

Anyways, I'm loving how this turned out and with all the pictures from WI, I could probably do another 2-pager or more.

ok... I'm only a day late this time LOL... been busy laboring this Labor Day weekend and hanging with some friends. Isaac woke up early so I grabbed the camera and headed over to the other side of the resort. All week I wanted to get a sunrise picture over there. It was perfect timing and I got some great pictures. The weather was perfect and the lake was so glassy. It was hard to believe that a week had passed and it was time to go home. We quickly ate breakfast and went to say goodbye to those that were still around. We left earlier than we normally leave and we were exhausted. We stopped in Wausau for a potty break. The exit said there was a Starbucks, but it was the longest drive there. We got a huge laugh out of that. The area was under construction so we actually passed it and had to turn around to go back. It was actually right by the next exit, LOL. I treated the kids to chocolate milks and I got myself my very first Mocha Coconut Frappuccino, YUM!!! I need to figure out how to make them in my VitaMix. We got back on the highway and Asher was pretty upset. He was already tired of traveling but we were soooo far away from home. That was not fun and as you can see Isaac didn’t like it either. When he calmed down he slept for awhile. When he woke up we started looking for a place to eat. We ended up at Panera in Madison. We really enjoyed just relaxing and hanging out for a bit. We got home mid-afternoon and just relaxed for awhile. This is the second year in a row that my basil plant did not survive our vacation. For dinner we went to Costco and had hot dogs and pizza and stocked up on groceries. It was good to be home again! It was a rough evening but we were so happy to be back in our own beds, trying to get back into our regular routine.

Today was our last full day at the cabin, so we spent most of the day saying goodbye to everyone. It was really quiet around the resort since many families left today. They had long drives home so it made sense to leave on Friday instead of Saturday. We decided to take it easy today before packing up ourselves. We went for a really leisure walk. We took a little paved trail that ran along 70. Next to it was a snowmobile trail. It was cool to see the tiny little signs for them. It got really hot really fast and we were pretty miserable in our long sleeves and jeans but now we know next year that we don’t have to worry about bugs on this path since it’s pretty much out of the woods. We decided that we would turn around at 2 miles to go back to the cabin. We saw Chris and his dad ride by on their bikes. We saw that they had stopped ahead and that’s where the eagle’s nest was. So we went a little bit further than 2 miles so that we could get a closeup view of the nest. It was pretty cool to see. We also saw a lot of hawks flying around along the path. We’ve seen lots of bald eagles and hawks this week. It made me really wish I still had my telephoto lens. After we got back we just kinda hung out on the deck and blew some bubbles. We tried to eat an early lunch again so the boys could go down for naps early too. Mark even took a short little nap while I went out and checked email. Mark took Moriah down to the beach for one last swim. She was a little bit more brave this time and actually jumped into the water from the dock. When Asher got up from his nap we went down to the beach to take some pictures. We decided to wake Isaac up from his nap at 3:30 so that we could go putt-putt and be back in time for dinner and packing. We had a blast at putt-putt. I had won a free entry last year and we had the hardest time finding the ticket for me to get in free. Right as we decided that we would still play putt-putt even w/o the free ticket, we finally found it. The kids were so excited and this year we decided not to keep track of our score. It was a good thing because it was hard to play with Asher on my back and I’m way too competitive. This way, we just had fun playing. Isaac just liked putting the ball really close to the hole so that he could easily hit it in. It was too cute. Their favorite holes were the ones that you hit the ball into the stream and watch the ball go down the stream and then onto the green at the end. We let them do that one several times just because it was so much fun. Mark got a hole in one, he was really excited about that. The best was hole #10 when Moriah got a hole in one. She was jumping up and down with excitement. I’m so proud of her! After we got back to the cabin we decided to go out for diner and went to DJ’s restaurant with Grandpa. Grandma wasn’t feeling well so she made her own dinner. When we got back we all started packing up and saying our goodbyes to everyone that was still around. It was really hot and humid so we didn’t sleep very well that night. We were really miserable!!!

Today is wedding day for the Greenwood family. Mark’s 2nd cousin Caiti is getting married on a little island on the lake. We’re all so excited. I took the kids to the pharmacy because I wanted to paint my nails and I thought it would be fun for Moriah to have her nails painted too. She picked out a really pretty plum color and I grabbed an orange. I almost grabbed the brown but decided it would be fun to have some color on my toes. Isaac really wanted a green one they had there, but I knew Mark would not allow that so I told him I’d paint his toes orange like mama, and went and grabbed some stickers for him. We had a great time painting our nails. Isaac really wanted his fingernails painted orange too but we weren't too keen on that, so I was able to convince him to have clear nail polish on his fingers. We had an early lunch because we had to be at the docks by noon to start heading over to the island. We had a nice leisure pontoon ride to the island and we saw quite a few bald eagles on the way. I’d never been to the island so I was really excited to see what all the excitement was about. We were the first to arrive except for the few who were guarding the island to make sure we were able to have it for the wedding. The wedding was absolutely beautiful even though it was nothing like it had been planned. The pastor went to the wrong resort so Mark Hiller had to wing it. Thank goodness they were technically already married otherwise I don’t think it would have been as much fun as it was. Coming back to the resort after the wedding we saw several more bald eagles. We then went out to dinner for the reception and the kids were running around everywhere, oye. After dinner we came back to the cabins and went to the beach for the cupcake and champagne reception. The cupcakes were so yummy but we could only eat half of one, they were HUGE!!! After the kids went to bed, I went back to the beach and hung out with everyone. We talked about how hard it is with little ones and shared some funny stories. For some reason the propane tank was leaking gas and we could smell it on the beach and that’s when I went back to the cabin. Nobody could sleep. It was too HOT and HUMID!!!

Our day started out really rainy and stormy, so we got out some games and played them. We also got out the crayons and coloring books for the kids to color. Asher was pretty fussy, I think the storms didn’t help. Isaac was definitely not feeling well so we just waited until the office was open so that we could make his appt. We found a pediatrician not far from us so we got an appt for early afternoon. It was kind of hard being stuck inside all morning. It stopped raining early afternoon and we headed to Isaac’s appt and Moriah stayed at the cabin with Grandpa and Grandma. On our drive to the dr we saw a deer run across the road in front of us. I had my camera in hand but it was too quick for me to take a picture. Isaac did awesome at his appointment. He’s such a good kid. He had an ear infection just like we suspected, so we had to figure out what antibiotic would work for him and decided we should really get him to an ENT dr when we get back since he’s had so many ear infections this year. While we were waiting for his RX to be filled we did a little bit of shopping in town. Isaac was so excited that they had a “truck” shopping cart, so he “drove” us around the store picking up all the things we needed. Asher fell asleep in the van on the way to Walgreens and Isaac also fell asleep on the way back to the cabin. It was pretty late by the time we got back but we found Moriah playing UNO with Grandpa and she won three times. After dinner we went to Cathy’s for ice cream. It was so yummy and we had such a great time. After the kids went to bed I went outside with the laptop. We accidentally woke up Asher when we went to bed and it took him awhile to go back to sleep so we could go to bed ourselves. We're tired!

We all got up about 6:30 for the day. While eating breakfast Isaac started singing “deep and wide”. It was too cute. Grandma took out Old Maid and taught Moriah how to play it. We decided to take it easy today and go to the handicapped trail for a nice little hike. We took the Aspen trail and then did the nature trail with everyone walking instead of riding in the stroller. Asher took a really nice nap again in the Ergo. When we got back we all played at the playground for a little while. Since the kids were all still coughing we decided to have an early lunch and get them down for an early nap. We made Moriah rest on the couch for an hour. I went out and checked my email. The battery only lasted an hour again. After that I went down to the beach to take some pictures of the beach and dock. After naptime Isaac chose to go back to the playground. Grandma took Moriah to the beach even though she wasn’t allowed to play because of sad choices, so she was only allowed to swing. We came back for dinner and were planning to go out for ice cream, but since Isaac didn’t eat any of his chicken we decided that they couldn’t have ice cream. We are pretty sure Isaac has an ear infection so we’ll be finding a doctor in the morning to have his ears checked. He’s been really crabby and not himself this evening. We tried to get the kids to bed early but they wouldn’t sleep and Isaac ended up getting his toys taken away. Mark and I watched NCIS: Los Angeles and House Hunters, which was SOOO FUNNY!

We made a deal at the beginning of the week that we would go hiking every day that we were on vacation. Since it didn’t happen on Sunday, we decided we would make up for it on Monday and go for a really long hike. I was thinking 5-6 miles. However, I did not expect that Mark would pick a trail that hadn’t been traveled much. The trail was hard to see because the grass was so high. There was a sign at the beginning that said it wasn’t maintained at all, that should have been our first clue as too how hard it was going to be. We totally missed the part that said it was an “intermediate” trail, with two steep hills... all we looked at was how far the trails were. We decided we would do the red trail which was 5.5 miles. Well, we decided to cut to a shorter trail and ended up only doing 4.5 miles. The 2 steep hills were CRAZY!!! I thought I was in really good shape since I can run 6 miles w/o stopping, but this trail proved me wrong LOL. My body was hurting. It was also the first time I wore Asher on my back. I was surprised at how much he loved it and he took a nice long nap there. Isaac and Moriah got kind of bored towards the end and Mark was working up a sweat pushing the two of them in our stroller... but we were so thankful for the Mountain Buggy, there was no way we could hike the trail with a normal stroller. Afterward we went to Wal-Mart to grab some supplies we needed and grab a snack to refuel after our major workout. It was the first time we’d seen the renovated store. It was really nice. On our way back we saw 3 baby deer and a mama deer. After lunch the boys went down for a nap and Moriah and I went to the SuperValue and bought taco stuff for dinner. When we got back I tried to take a nap because I was so sore and my head hurt. We then went to the beach, Isaac refused to go in the water but Moriah had a blast swimming in the lake. For dinner I made tacos. They were yummy! After the kids went to bed I took Mark’s laptop outside and chatted with a few friends on YIM. The battery died while chatting with Traci, so I watched some TV and then went to bed & Asher woke up a few times.

YAY!!! I'm so excited to share these with you. We had such a great time on vacation and these layouts were so fun to put together. I had decided in the middle of the week that I was going to add the weekend to my week. That meant that I didn't have very many pictures or journaling so I decided to combine the days. This turned out perfectly since I had 7 templates from Traci's pack and I was going to end on the following Saturday when we got home. So, with that said, here is my first layout for Week In The Life.

Well, we are off for a week of vacation. I can’t wait to get up to Wisconsin and get all settled in to our cabin. We decided this year we would take a different route up and meet up with Rebecca and her family. I’m so excited to see them. We always have so much fun with them. We had great intentions to get out of the house early, but we ended up leaving a little bit later than I had hoped. That meant meeting for lunch at noon instead of 11:00 like I had hoped. This drive was so much easier than our normal way. I was surprised considering we missed the bypass and ended up going through Milwaukee instead of around. I didn’t realize how congested Madison is. We had to call Rebecca to get new directions since we missed the bypass. It was easy and I actually really enjoyed the view of Milwaukee. We saw Miller Park, the State Fair Park and the US Olympic Training Facility. Right around noon we arrived in Appleton at Fuddruckers for lunch with Rebecca and her family. We talked about the usual stuff like homeschooling and of course scrapping and Sweet Shoppe Designs. We seriously could have spent all day with them and 2 hours went by super fast. Moriah tripped and hurt her knew on a rock while getting ready to take a pic, so that’s why she isn’t in the picture and it was just the mamas and the boys. After saying our goodbyes we stopped at Target to get some coloring books, crayons and bandaids. The rest of the ride up to St. Germain was super easy. Asher slept for 3 hours and Isaac took a little nap. I was able to get some reading done and got about halfway through Radical by David Platt. We got settled in to the cabin and had dinner and then went to bed. The kids were too excited to sleep that night and we had to bribe them to sleep.
Sunday morning was nice and calm on the beach. Moriah was running around the cabin and knocked the toaster off the counter and broke it. Less than 24 hours at the cabin and something was already broken and needed to be replaced LOL. We decided she needed to pay for the new one so we decided that she needed to set and clear the table for lunch and dinner everyday to pay for it. We missed church because of the kids having colds so Mark led a little devotional on the 10 Commandments and sang a few songs. We then went grocery shopping for the week. I don’t know why grocery shopping stresses me out so much but we bought stuff for breakfast and lunches. While the boys napped Mark and Moriah went back to the grocery store to get some celery. I joined the boys for a nap. After naps we all went to the beach to play and I talked to Kim about our cameras. Bedtime we read Mike Mulligan and the steam shovel. In the evening I looked at the Five In A Row book while Mark watched Top Gear. We all slept better.

Today is the first of the month so I can share my layout for Sweet Shoppe's home page now. I chose #24 – Photo Technique – Lens Flare! Take a photo that has some lens flare and then scrap a page using the photo for my layout, and used a picture I had taken of Asher at the beach on the 4th of July. I think this is my new favorite layout. I love the word jumbles by Penny that I split up and used for the title and the stitches by Traci. I also used one of my most fave Jenn kits.

I'm finally caught up!!! I got kinda bored with the template I was using... so I'm changing things up a bit... so not only am I going to change kits every 4 weeks, I'm going to change templates too. I also fell madly in love with Darcy's new font being released tomorrow that I forgot I was using a different font than the rest of my layouts LOL! Oh well... we're going with the flow LOL! The numbers alpha is the same... I don't think I can ever get tired of that one... so at least I have one thing consistent throughout. LOL!!! Week #29 will have to wait to show you since I included lots of new releases on that one. :)

I did some hybrid!!!! I've been feeling like I've been in a hybrid funk lately and just enjoying scrapping my memories, but was so excited to pull my paper goodies out for a new project. Kelleigh "refrosted" her cupcake template and I had fun playing with it this week. It felt good to play again for a little bit. Plus, it gave me an excuse to play with some stuff that hadn't even been opened yet. I really fell in love with the glossy accents and can see myself using it a ton in the future when my hybrid mojo comes back. Anyways... I LOVE Kelleigh's templates, they're soooo easy to put together.

layout catch-up

Just catching up on some layouts... I've been cleaning out my digital scrapbooking supplies and one of the things I spent all weekend and yesterday doing (when I had the chance) was convert all my layouts from the full .psd file, to a flattened .jpg. I'm realizing that I never go back to change anything nor correct spelling errors so why keep them... so from now on I'm just going to flatten them, mistakes and all and not worry about keeping the full layered version. Next on my to-do list is to go through my pictures and edit the ones I want to keep and delete the RAW files of the ones I don't want to keep. It's a big project but it's something I really need to do... I don't even want to know how much space I'm taking on my harddrive with blurry pictures or 30 of the same picture lol. I think I get so overwhelmed with how much there is to do that I totally avoid it and then it becomes a mountain instead of a hill. I really should do it on a more regular basis... like maybe when I'm downloaded them from my camera to my computer... that would be ideal... but I don't :P

Anyways... here's some layouts that I just recently uploaded to the galleries and this would be my last step before deleting the web-sized copy LOL. I'm not doing so hot on this list... but this is the list of books I really want to read. I'm about to go pick up a couple from the library as soon as Asher is up from his nap. I have a feeling the library is going to be crowded since it's sooo freakin' hot outside.

Decided I should probably try to catch up on these... I was about 10 weeks behind on doing the layouts... and got 3 of them done last night. I've been really good about taking the pics... but terrible at putting together the layouts and summarizing the week. I'm a little sad that I didn't keep up with these because it's really hard to remember what happened 10 weeks ago. I had to guess based on the pictures I took that week. I'm going to try my hardest now to catch up and stay caught up.

Mark and I got to spend a little time w/o the bigger kids and I grabbed my camera and we headed to town with Asher and had a little date night. We ended up walking about 3.5 miles down the boardwalk, pier and back. I ended up hopping down to the beach and taking a few pics of the pier. I decided to scrap one of the pics and journal a little bit about it. I also played with the shadowing a bit to see if I could mimic a corner being lifted off the page... how'd I do? I must say that it was a lot of work to do it in Photoshop Elements and can't wait to have saved up enough money for Photoshop CS5.

Sun Flare photos and mini-tute

and here's a photo I took yesterday of a hawk flying above our house...
Wanna know how to do this? For the best results, I've found that you need your lens aperture to be as small as possible (biggest f-stop number)... so on my 50mm that would be f/16... but many lenses go even smaller than that. Then you will get the sun partially in your photo and you'll begin to actually see the flare in your viewfinder... then click. For the Loveless Cafe sign, I actually shaded the lens with my hand to get the sign in focus... once the sign was in focus and I had pressed the shutter button half way down, I moved my hand to bring the flare back in and finished the shot.

Happy Saturday... I have some fun layouts to share from this week!!!

Traci has an awesome summer kit and I just couldn't resist scrapping about my Vitamix. I've been making homemade lemonade and it's soooo YUMMY! I just had to scrap about it and Traci's lemonade illustration is too fun!!! I really LOVE the papers in this kit too! I couldn't resist using a new template from Cindy either and Darcy did some new fonts based off one of my favorite fonts... I think this set is now going to be one of my all time faves!!!

When Heather Roselli posted the preview of her new release... I saw her little stick people and instantly thought of those family stickers I see on the backs of mini-vans and SUVs... I remembered the picture I took of our Sienna back when we bought it and thought how fun would it be to do a "Swagger Wagon" layout. It also fit one of the portfolio challenges this month at Sweet Shoppe Designs. :D

Scrappin' Saturday... TOTALLY LATE AGAIN

Hmm... I'm thinking Saturday might not be a good day for Scrappin' Saturday... originally I picked Saturday because it's the day that the Sweet Shoppe new releases are on sale for 20% off so I figured if you were interested in any of it, I'd need to post then... but with warmer weather, we've been getting an early start on the home renovations and getting out of the house earlier, so this blog has been left behind... will have to rethink this and maybe change it to Monday or Tuesday... we'll see...

Anyways.... I've got some layouts to share from last week.

First, I wanted to play with some of the portfolio challenges and had this gorgeous beach kit by Jenn Barrette. I decided to do the challenge where you had to add texture from paper to your photo. I used 2 papers for texture on this photo. The first one was a whitewash wood paper and I set it to soft light blending mode and turned down the opacity to 30%. The second paper was a tan with cream doodled flowers on it... I set that one to linear burn blending mode and turned down the opacity to 50%. I loved it so much that I didn't want to add too many elements to it. I loved how this turned out, even though it's very different from my normal style of scrapbooking. I also got gallery standout at the GSO blog and Me So Scrappy which I'm so flattered and honored to have been chosen for them.

I'm having a blast still going through the portfolio every month and finding inspiration for pages!

We were super busy last week with the homeschool convention that I never not a chance to update my pages for the week... so here ya go...

First up is my SugarBabe June Portfolio home page that I finally get to share... this layout shows up on the front page of SSD once in awhile... if you keep refreshing :) my prompt to work with was... #22 - Scrap a page with a bunch of tiny strips of paper at haphazard angles like this pile. I had so much fun making all those paper strips. I know people think it took me a long time but it really just took me 5 minutes using the "line" shape tool... there are 75 strips btw.
